The Rights of Man, Does not come from Government, Any recovery will start with the individuals ability to grow their own economic liberty.

I remember my father telling me not to talk politics or religion. Well those days are long gone. We seem to have everyone wanting to put there opinions into public policy This can only bring confusion to public regulation and bring injustice to the Small business climate. I awaken to this around the time of the 9/11 attacks. Whether it was the growth in government from the Republicans to the recent explosion of government control from the Democrats. We seem to have lost much of what America had stood for. Our Liberties have been removed for some common good that is still undefined. The Social justice crowd is in full gear, and The Business climate is being demonized. After all, we are the ones that work for a living, delivering jobs and building careers to the people of this state, and asking little from our government. The Government promises jobs, not careers. And we now have politicians that do not understand that main difference. Outside of using public education, and maintaining roads, I have not asked one thing from my government in my fifty years of life. For all the good (Tax Revenue, and reduced Social Services) that we give to the state, we are ridiculed by our leaders and taxed to death. Our Own Majority Leader Barbra Buckley said that she refused to cut 40% although our revenues are down that much. We the small business community have had to make those hard decisions, our leaders refuse to make those choices and demand more from us. Not Once have they thought that they may have overreached, a Small business who overreaches and does not change goes away very quickly. Our political leadership is not leading, they are however cowards. They say that we are simpletons, and are just that greedy no new tax crowd. I am not that simple, I demand a reduction in taxes for the main reason that I am more responsible to my needs than Government. the rights of man over Government is imperative in these times we find ourselves.

Small business is the justice mechanism in this society. We allow individuals to grow to there potential, not Government programs. Small business removes people from the social welfare rolls, We are the ones responsible for the whole talk of the need for small government. Yes to some we are the devil itself. The Social justice crowd is grabbing up important parts of our economy and taking control away from us as individuals, and yet we are demonized. Opportunity is being taken away from us in such large amounts I truly fear for the future. For with all the power grabs that government has put into place in recent months, I can only give a few examples of Government returning programs to the private sector. For the most part Governemnt programs tend to grow in a climate of a big bureaucracy,Responsiveness and justice they cannot promise. We have leaders that promise change, but at the cost of our individual liberties.

Now we have our political leaders wanting to take control of the insurance industry. This is another power grab that we cannot stand for. We seem to be headed down a road that can only have two possible outcomes, and both scare me. Either we move into a collective society that resembles a Borg collective that comes straight out of a Star Trek series, or the real potential of a civil war. There is a scene from the mini series "Band of Brothers" that should be stamped on the heads of our elected officials, the statement is never put your self in a position to take from your men. this is a important part of leadership, our leaders do not understand that philosophy, their only policy is to take from us. I am not professing violence in any way or of any kind. I would hope that we can avoid these two real potential outcomes through a civil discourse. But that would mean that we can talk and find common ground, and yes compromise. unfortunately I do not see that discourse coming from the leaders that we now have, As I stated in the beginning of this blog, We have our elected officials that are not holding town meetings on health care reform, to ovoid confrontation. Our Senators to our Representatives in congress, are being engaged in ways that they have not been engaged in recent town hall meetings. Our Nevada elected official are hiding under their desks, our with friendly crowds. This is a result of our government listening to special interest instead of the common persons in their districts. The President and the press seem to want to devalue these actions by the common person. This will only put a father wedge between us. Holding public forums without allowing a debate is wrong at this time. We need to do the complete opposite. we need our State Representatives to reverse there actions and lead. the art of the debate and the willingness to hear opposing views in a civil way needs to be exhibited. I am still waiting.

The State of Nevada is not able at this time to handle any new taxation proposals. the ones that we have currently on the books have destroyed our current economic condition. The Higher taxes proposals coming from Washington and our own state capitol are quickening a economic destruction of the middle class. We need lower taxes, and reducing regulatory oversight at the lower levels to empower the individual, to hasten the recovery. We need these items now to give our society the ability to live, and succeed. The Rights of man does not come from Government, and our recovery starts with the individual, not bigger Government. The Battle is now underway.

Is government getting too big to fail?

We seem to have a paradox, we have our government saying that Big Business is corrupt and therefore our Government had to take over the financial, auto and now the insurance industries. For all of the evils that they are proposing, they are quite on the fact that Big Government has all of these flaws plus the inability to quickly respond to needed change. At least with business they will dump something that is loosing money. Big Government will continue that same program whether it make sense or not. Now politics are even more than before entering the Frey. Who is to be save and who will loose it all is up to our political leaders. this is wrong is so many ways it is alarming.
Nevada is not much better. Gaming has had a strangle hold on the workings of Carson City for Decades.many of our laws and regulations protect that industry at the expense of the rest of us. The two big proposals coming out of the Casino lobby has been the gross receipts tax proposal and the Nevada clean air act. the Nevada business community banned together and help defeat the gross receipts tax but the negative economic effects of the Nevada clean air act on small locally owned business is well documented. Both of these gaming proposals excluded them while placing the burden on others. This approach of taxation public policy and law has to stop. I believe that the greed of these few casino giants have blinded them from the fact that we are all in this together, by weakening local business, they weaken themselves. as today's local market has proved. Gaming is down because the locals are now hurting. Now that the Casino lobby has been hit along with the rest of us, I strongly believe it is a self inflicted wound.
The issue here is that are we laying the ground work for a recovery that we can all benefit. I would say no. As my first blog stated. Government too many times has been used by big business to develop regulations and tax policy That Slows down the process and inhibits competition. Therefore the bigger government grows the slower the process becomes, the more expensive projects become and the element of profitability goes away. Recoveries are built on the potential of growth, big government denies us of that right. the only way to make government work for all of us is to put back into the equation the checks and balances to regulating on a tiered system placing most of the oversight on larger companies. This is not a attack on big business, but small business needs a voice in the development of policy. we have been left out of the debate for the most part.

The problem Nevada has in today's political environment is that we have a Governor that is a no tax guy. The Democrats can just say that he is a simpleton and cannot understand the complexities of government. well the truth is much different. Nevada needs a strong voice right now to disarm the lefts advances at big Government. For Nevada to move back up the list in States to do business it needs someone who can make the argument. Our Nevada State government is too big and far too many times gets in the way of Small business to begin, advance and flourish.

Do you feel the stimulus? The Clock is running

First off Let me acknowledge that I fully understand lag time and its cause and effect in the economy. The problem as I see it is we have grown government, to a point that it by itself is inhibiting our recovery, especially at the lower end. Government has begun to feel the hit from lower tax revenues, they have begun to reduce staff, but they have not reduced regulatory policy. All this has done is to increase cost and the time needed to develop new businesses ventures, and has hurt our ability to recover. Here in Nevada we have hit 12% unemployment. The difference between the public and private sectors are that the private sector is much quicker to change when change is needed. Some of us have had to make hard decisions, and believe me it is not easy working for no pay and taking on another job to make ends meet. We have all lost the same property values, and retirement that everyone in the state has felt. Small business wants to pay taxes, we just want the opportunity to benefit from the risk that we take. There is nothing wrong with this it is human nature.
The public sector from the federal and state governments have only added time and money to the recovery process. the solutions thatthe public sector continue to inject bring with them higher cost at our bottom lines through higher taxes, new fees, new regulations, are the wrong answer. The potential for higher energy cost and the potential for health care takeover, continues to put those of us that take the risk to invest on the sidelines. Even as these policies have been brought forth with good intentions, the Slow implementation and the effects of increasing the cost of doing business have been devastating to our economy and the business environment. Nevada now ranks 47 out of 50 states for a positive climate for doing business. this has not been done overnight, it started back in 2002 when our government put into place the highest tax increase in our history, up until this last legislative session, when it past the old mark.

Small business needs a shot in the arm now. we need a tax and regulatory holiday to speed up this recovery. Yes I mean not only a employment tax and business tax Holiday but also a regulatory holiday. much of government purpose is to delay, investigate and control much of what small business does.I do not believe that we can afford these regulatory delays any more. Where I differ from some in the public sector is that for the most part I believe people will do the right thing, thus needs only a guiding sort of oversight. especially at the lower ends of the economy. too many times government regulatory practice inhibits, or restricts small business from growing and changing to compete with the larger businesses. This is wrong in my opinion, and needs to be changed. I strongly believe that big business controls the implementation of the government regulatory process, and to balance this effect we need to have a policy safeguard against Government restricting market forces. I strongly believe that we need a checks and balance system to limit government control at the lower end and allow people to grow. This is the only way to insure that a sense of justice and fairness returns in these tough economic times.
